Description

The Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCCI) was founded in August 1911 as the "Jesselton Chinese Chamber of Commerce." The Chamber initially had only 50 members, but over the years, the membership has grown steadily, and there are now over a thousand registered members. The Chamber's main objective is to promote cooperation among members to advance commerce and industry, assist in developing the nation's economy, and instill loyalty to the state and nation. It also aims to safeguard members' interests, disseminate information related to commerce and industry, and promote unity, goodwill, and harmony among ethnic groups. To achieve its goals, the Chamber plays a vital role as a bridge between the government and the business sector. It manages Chinese cemeteries situated in different locations and carries out charity and welfare activities. Furthermore, the Chamber plays an essential role in promoting Chinese culture and education. It manages seven schools and jointly manages KK High School with the United Chinese Community Associations of Kota Kinabalu and the KK High School Alumni. To execute its activities efficiently, the Chamber established seven sub-committees responsible for dealing with different matters. These sub-committees are under the charge of the seven vice-presidents and cover topics such as industry and commerce, tourism and technology, primary commodities, welfare, culture and education, kindergarten education, and public relations, sports, and entertainment.
